Spiritual Wellness
Spiritual wellness is the process of seeking meaning and purpose in your life. Spiritual wellness helps you understand your why, establishing purpose and finding meaning in your life so that you can live a life that is consistent with your beliefs, your values, and your morals.
Spiritual Wellness encompasses…
Your spiritual wellness is the process of how you seek meaning and purpose in life, making use of those modalities that give us peace and help us find clarity, accepting we are not in control of many of the outside forces that affect us. This includes actively nurturing an approach and outlook that finds growth and progress in both joyful and difficult times and allows us to live a life consistent with our beliefs, values, and morals.
Oftentimes we confuse being spiritual with being religious, but the two are different. A spiritual person is guided by a higher power/s but is not necessarily dedicated to a specific religion. A religious person is dedicated to the practice of a specific religion. Even highly religious people may not have a strategy for maintaining their overall spiritual wellness.
“Spirituality is recognizing and celebrating that we are all inextricably connected to each other by a power greater than all of us, and that our connection to that power and to one another is grounded in love and compassion. Practicing spirituality brings a sense of perspective, meaning, and purpose to our lives.” (Brenee Brown)
When you don’t take care of your spiritual wellness…
When you are not spiritually well, you can feel like you have no purpose in life, like life has no meaning or place for you. Because spiritual wellness helps you understand your why, it helps to connect to your beliefs and morals, a set of truths, and/or a higher power. When this part of you is incomplete you are unanchored and that can make you feel insignificant, scattered, angry, or hopeless.
When you ignore your spiritual wellness, it can cause you to make decisions that are impulsive or may be harmful to yourself or others, disconnect from your friends and family, devalue your accomplishments and even stop planning for the future.
You can do this. PsycleOn can help.
